Building a Scalable UX Trainee Program | sccc by stc

Overview
As someone who believes in learning and to make the most of each experience. I was inspired to work and design a structured UX trainee program on Notion to provide a consistent and engaging training experience for our trainees at sccc by stc.
The program was created to cover the full UX lifecycle while allowing both trainees and team members to track progress throughout the training period.
The program includes:
A structured learning path covering key UX disciplines, such as research, interaction design, design systems, and developer handoff best practices.
A centralized progress tracker on Notion – this enables the trainee to track their progress with the team, and view the roadmap of their training.
A final presentation, designed as a "Training diary". I wanted to encourage our trainees to journal their thoughts and feelings, and to ensure they collect proof of their work. This makes it easier to build their portfolio, and look back on their training achievements!
Impact
The trainee is onboarded easily, and has an overview of what is to be expected from them from day one.
Ensure that the trainee is exposed to all the UX disciplines, helping them to discover what area they thrive in.
A structured program shows the trainee that their training is valuable and meaningful to the team – we treat them as part of the team ⭐️
Template Sample

The structure of each task consist of
A status tracker
UX Buddy – this helps the trainee to know who can guide them through this task based on the relevant field
UX Field – exposing the trainee to well known UX terms / fields. Helping them to know what field do they shine in more.
Overview – a full section to briefly explain the task and list down the deliverables.
At the end of the day, this initiative was a reminder of a quote that I love to go back to
"A simple act of kindness sparks another" – Klaus movie, 2019
I wanted to make sure every trainee felt well-achieved and gathered all the knowledge that they can during their 6 months with us.
Looking back, I remember how my training shaped me to be the designer that I am today. This program is a way of me paying forward to that experience, and hoping to inspire that next generation of designers to do the same.
The initiative was well received by my manager and approved to be our training plan for all trainees (yay!).
