Overview /

Satr (سطر) is an Arabic platform that offers a diverse range of free online programming courses. Simply all you need to do is create an account, choose a course (or a path!) and start your learning journey. RoleUser ResearchUI3D Art

Goal of this revamp

"Recognizing a lack of user-centricity in the old design, our goal was: 1. Address user dissatisfaction expressed in interviews, 2. Ensure the landing page conveys clear value to both guest and signed-in users. 3. Provide a seamless online learning experience. "

User research /

While direct user interviews were unavailable at the time – due to the confidentiality of the revamp. However, we adopted alternative approaches in order to gather answers to questions we had. We benefitted from behavior analytics tools, such as, HotJar to analyze user interactions and find experience gaps.

Another fun method we thought of – engaging with them during the well-known BlackHat event! We prepared questions to ask attendees who visited our booth at the time, and it was such an eye-opening experience to us (meeting and listening to your users might be nerve-wrecking in the beginning, but the outcomes are so worth it).

Research outcomes

During the research process we noticed recurrent patterns and questions from our users. They mainly resolved on confusing navigation, the platform's purpose was not clear from the beginning, and lack of clarity for people who wanted to start their programming journey

Let's head into design!Diving into the project, we aimed to have the main theme center around 'Personalization'. We made sure that the guest, as well as the signed-in user, get the most out of the platform.

I was responsible for designing the guest page! which was exciting as I was building the experience that will decide if the guest wants to continue learning with us or not..

Landing Page

The guest landing page's main highlight is the "طرق متنوعة للتعلم" where we showcase the recommended course. The recommended courses are based on in-demand skills in current year, or what's new on the platform.Why aren't we showing the most rated courses? because every user's journey is a unique experience. Our aim is to tailor the platform to their individual learning paths, focusing on their needs rather than enforce a standardized approach based on what others are learning.

As someone who is passionate about 3D art, and believes the way it can transform a whole design into something more sleek, I wanted to add some of these touches to Satr.
